Security Token Academy to Hold Webinar on Tokenized Commercial Real Estate Investing

Commercial Real Estate Investing via Security Tokens (CREST), a division of the Security Token Academy, will be hosting their own Webinar on January 16th 2019. One of focuses will be a case study on the successful tokenization of St. Regis Aspen Resort located in Aspen, Colorado.

Back in October, the Security Token Academy held their “Industry Launch Event” in New York City to officially establish the security token sector. Speakers then included former Vice Chairman of NASDAQ, David Weild, and a whole host of other experts in financial markets and the cryptocurrency field. Since then, the Security Token Academy has been expanding its base of resources to assemble a hub of information for investors, token issuers, and anyone looking to get involved in this new cryptocurrency space.

One of the main takeaways from the Industry Launch Event was that disruption by security tokens would likely first come to the commercial real estate sector. Now with the unveiling of their Commercial Real Estate Investing via Security Tokens (CREST) division, the Security Token Academy will be hosting a webinar on January 16th about the topic.

“A Case Study on Commercial Real Estate”

The Security Token Academy will be hosting a case study on tokenized commercial real estate to be streamed online and held in multiple cities. One particular focus will be the tokenization of St. Regis Aspen Resort, valued at some $224 million and located in Aspen, Colorado.

“An equity raise of the property in late summer / early fall 2018 brought in $18 million with a cap rate of about 5.8 percent. This was executed in conjunction with a regulated Security Token using Reg D – 506 (c). It’s one of the first cases of tokenizing a commercial real estate property,” the announcement reads.

The webinar will include speakers like Stephane De Baets, President of Elevated Returns, and Jeffrey Davis, Senior Managing Director of JLL Hotels and Hospitals, along with other experts in commercial real estate.
